Host to the granddaddy of all horse races, the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs boasts a one-mile dirt oval that offers pari-mutuel wagering on its races. Opened in 1875 and designated a National Historic Landmark, the track is characterized by the twin spires atop its grandstand. It lies just west of Papa Johns Stadium.
