One of the oldest buildings in downtown Louisville, the Cathedral of the Assumption was dedicated in 1852. Featuring a 287-foot-high spire, ornate trappings like a massive stained glass window depicting the Virgin Mary's crowning as the Queen of Heaven and the official chair of the archbishop, the church can be toured by visitors when not in use for services. The cathedral is located just a few blocks southeast of the main line of museums in Louisville, including the Louisville Slugger Museum, Louisville Science Center and Frazier International History Museum.
Open Mon. - Fri. 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Sun. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
